Trademark and or Brand is the most valuable asset of the company. A trademark is defined as any sign, or any combination of signs, capable of distinguishing the goods or services of one organisation from those of other organisation. Let make it simple for you, the trademark can be signs in particular words including personal names, letters, numerals, figurative elements and combinations of colors as well as any combination of such signs.
Registration of Trademarks in Rwanda
As per the IP Law in Rwanda, the legal right associated with the trademark is acquired through registration. It is understandable that without registration it is almost impossible to enjoy those right. Therefore, we able to assist our clients to conduct a trademark Search or conducting status search. Also we assist you in filing of trademark application.
Renewal of Trademark Certificate in Rwanda
Trademark certificate is valid for ten (10) years effective from the filing date. When the trademark owner fails to apply for its renewal, he/she loose the right pertained to it hence, anyone can start to use it. So, we assist our clients throughout the renewal process.
Opposition
We have understanding of how people try to steal other people’s trademarks with intention to register them in Rwanda. So, we assist our clients to file oppositions against the registration of their Trademarks in Rwanda.
Cancelation of the Trademark
In Rwanda, Intellectual Property Law provides for the cancellation of the mark on the ground of Non-use. We assist our clients to file the applications claiming or against the cancelation of the trademark for the ground of non-use, when the registered trademark spent three years effective from its registration date without being used on Rwandan territory.
